It makes for wonderful viewing. Also well worth watching is the documentary Snapshot in Time: 1967-68 which places the events of the film in historical context, detailing the escalation of the conflict up to that point as well as the growing mood of disillusionment back home. One War, Many Stories takes us into a private screening of the film in 2006 for a room full of Vietnam Veterans as they discuss their reactions to the film and whether or not it effectively and accurately resembled something close to their experiences. The soldiers reminiscences are honest, revelatory and were clearly difficult to even speak about at times. Fans of PLATOON should find everything in this package they could wish for. The film is presented better than it has ever been seen and the huge array of supplemental material is as well developed and thought-out as it is executed. If you have yet to add this seminal Vietnam War film to your collection then now is the perfect time to do so and if you already own a previous edition on DVD, it may well now be time to upgrade for the superior image quality.
